10 Warning Signs of a Heart Attack You Should Never Ignore
By Dr. Raghvendra Choudhary, DM Cardiology
A heart attack occurs when blood flow to part of the heart is blocked. Time is critical — every minute counts. Here are the key warning signs:
Classic Symptoms - Chest pain, pressure, tightness or squeezing (lasting more than a few minutes) - Pain radiating to left arm, jaw, neck or back - Shortness of breath - Cold sweats, nausea or lightheadedness
Subtle Symptoms (often missed) - Unusual fatigue, especially in women - Indigestion or heartburn that doesn't resolve - Jaw or tooth pain with no dental cause - Anxiety or feeling of "impending doom"
If you or someone around you experiences these symptoms, call emergency services immediately. Do not drive yourself to hospital. Chew an aspirin (325 mg) if available and not allergic. Early treatment saves lives and preserves heart muscle.
